Amazingly Joanna Lumley turned 70 recently and loves getting older as she’s “not so afraid of things”. And how fabulous is that? Most of us don’t make the changes we know we must because of fear. That hideous four letter word! We let fear hold us back from changing our diet, starting exercise, quitting smoking, ‘unfriending’ horrible people on social media or trying new experiences.

Depending on your beliefs it doesn’t matter if you have one life or many, how well do you want to live this life? And do you want to look back on life saying “I’m glad I did” or regretting you didn’t?

So How Do We Oust Those Fears?

In my practice first, we get them out on the table and we examine them closely. Your fears may not even be true (assumptions), they may be patterns from the past or maybe genuine. Who knows, but discussing them can really help to put them in their real perspective. Then the fun bit starts, the mapping out of your fabulous future. Many ways to get to a destination but first you have to know where you want to go.

Simply because we are not involved in your life on a day to day basis. We care about you but are not emotionally involved, so whatever you say is totally safe and you won’t be judged. Often when we share things with our family or friends they are so involved emotionally that they feel obliged to offer suggestions to ‘fix’ you. Just being able to voice your fears and your dreams without fear of judgement is empowering in itself.
