24 May Knee Pain? Here’s What to Do
If you are experiencing-
– Pain in or around the knee
– Swelling of the knee
– Weakness or giving way of the knee
– Changes to your walking pattern
– Inability to play your usual sports or perform kneeling or crouching tasks
Here’s What You Can Do to Help Yourself-
– If you have an injury and there is swelling, use ice on the knee (with a tea towel between the skin and the ice) for 15 minutes 2-3 times / day (pack of frozen peas can be useful- do not eat later!)
– Try to keep the knee moving gently, but don’t push through pain
– Walk as normally as you can without causing pain
– If you are unable to walk normally without pain you may require crutches
– See your GP for appropriate pain control

– Help you understand which activities and exercises you should avoid
– Use hands on physiotherapy as needed to decrease swelling and muscular / joint stiffness

– Help and advise you as to when you can return to your usual activities, sports, etc….
